Clinical Clarity for Expanded States
“Psychedelic medicine is undergoing a modern renaissance—the growth in interest and use in the past two decades has been exponential. History has shown, however, that rapid adoption of medicines without rigorous scientific grounding can carry profound consequences, as seen in the opioid crisis.
Individuals turning to psychedelic therapies—whether for mental health treatment, personal insight, or spiritual practice—deserve access to clear, evidence-based information on these substances, including how they may interact with conventional medications. Pharmacists, as medicine experts, hold the responsibility of ensuring these experiences are approached with safety, discernment, and clinical integrity—just as we would with any therapeutic agent, regardless of its legal or cultural context.”
About Dr. Melissa Brewster
Hello!Melissa Brewster, PharmD, is a pharmacist, educator, and nationally recognized leader in psychiatric pharmacology, addiction medicine, harm reduction, and psychedelic medicine. For more than fifteen years, she has worked at the intersection of mental health, medication safety, and transformative healing, helping patients and healthcare professionals navigate complex decisions involving psychiatric medications and altered states of consciousness.
Throughout her career, Melissa has served as a Clinical Psychiatric Pharmacist, Director of Pharmacy Services, health plan leader, educator, and policy advocate. She has developed innovative programs in addiction treatment, opioid overdose prevention, hepatitis C care, and behavioral health, while leading pharmacy initiatives that improved outcomes for thousands of patients across Oregon and beyond. She has advised healthcare systems, trained clinicians throughout the Pacific Northwest, contributed to state and national policy initiatives, and received recognition for her pioneering work in harm reduction and overdose prevention.
Melissa's interest in psychedelic medicine began long before the field entered mainstream healthcare. She has spent over a decade studying and teaching the pharmacology, therapeutic potential, and risks of entheogens and psychedelics, delivering continuing education for healthcare professionals and providing consultation to medicine guides, facilitators, and individuals seeking informed, evidence-based support.
Through Satori Rx, Melissa provides independent consultations focused on medication interactions, psychiatric and medical risk assessment, tapering considerations, and harm reduction strategies for individuals considering or working with psychedelic, entheogenic, and dissociative medicines. Her approach combines scientific rigor, clinical expertise, and deep respect for the personal, spiritual, and transformational dimensions of healing.
Melissa believes that informed preparation is one of the most important components of a safe and meaningful psychedelic experience. Her mission is to bridge the gap between conventional healthcare and emerging psychedelic practices, empowering people to make educated decisions about their health, safety, and personal growth.

We do not prescribe medications and consults are educational in nature. Clients should partner with their medical providers for all decision making and medication tapering. We do not provide medical clearance for psychedelic work, nor do we ever advise to break any laws, as many psychedelics remain schedule I controlled substances.

30-minute consultations are intended for clients with mild medical complexity and five or fewer medications. I recommend 60-minute consultations for clients with cardiac conditions, seizure disorders, serious mental health conditions, kidney or liver disease, and end-of-life clients (this list is not inclusive). Patients with six or more medications should consider a longer consult, especially if considering tapering a medication prior to psychedelic work.
-
Monthly memberships for guides and facilitators include quick access to and medical or drug information questions or concerns about clients who are considering psychedelic. work. Many facilitators do not have the clinical expertise to evaluate a client’s risks- using Satori Rx as a resource can provide guides and clients with evidence-based information that helps them to understand their specific risks.
